Welcome to the Harry Potter Quote of the Day community. Each day a short quote from one of the Harry Potter books will be posted by a community member, and open for discussion/commentary. Members can sign up for a week's worth of time slots and may choose any scene from any book during their given week. It does not matter if someone has posted the same quote as you recently; you may want to post it for a different reason and have a different sort of discussion about it. If you don't want to post but simply want a little dose of canon every day, then friend us and follow along!
Signups, template information, and rules can be found here. Please read this post before attempting to post to the community.
Please use the following template when posting your quote.
Your subject should look like this:
Title: Chapter, scene (so if I were posting where the trio meets on the train in book one, I would put: PS: Chapter Six - Trio meets on the train.) This will help to organise things in the memories.
Then in the post itself, put:
Book: Chapter: (we won't use exact page numbers as these differ from edition to edition, the chapter number will suffice - both UK and US editions are acceptable) Brief summary of scene: (one or two lines, possibly including what happens immediately before) Disclaimer: This excerpt from [insert title here] was created and owned by JK Rowling, various publishers including but not limited to Bloomsbury Books, Scholastic Books and Raincoast Books, and Warner Bros., Inc. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended. This material is presented for the purposes of review and critique only.
(Then put your post behind an lj-cut, making sure to preserve the original formatting and checking carefully for typos/omitted words. If you wish to include any commentary, please do so after the quote and make it clear where the quote ends and where your commentary begins. Do not intersperse your commentary within the quote.)
1. The only posts that can be made are admin posts and quote posts. Discussion about a quote should be made in comments to that post. Any other posts will be deleted without notice. 2. No ship debating. If you want to say, for instance, that you think your quote reflects a budding romance between Dobby and Winky, great, but no debating or arguing about it. 3. Netspeak/spam/flames will be deleted without notice.
